40 jobs saved thanks to the sale of Dawnfresh Seafoods

The directors of Dawnfresh Seafoods have secured a going concern sale of the Uddingston fish processing plant to Peterhead-based Thistle Seafoods.

The agreement, for an undisclosed sum, provides for the immediate transfer of 40 employees to Thistle Seafoods.

The Uddingston site is over 100,000 square feet and includes an industrial unit with processing, warehousing, administrative and cold storage facilities.

Thistle Seafoods will develop the Uddingston site into an ‘advanced value added’ seafood processing and distribution centre, with access to retail and wholesale customers and markets in the UK, EU and -of the.

Ryan Scatterty, Managing Director of Thistle Seafoods, said: “The acquisition of the Uddingston plant is an ideal fit for our business as it will provide us with a strategic processing, storage and distribution center with easy access to main transport networks to better serve our domestic customers.

“It will also allow us to further expand our product offering and capitalize on our fast-growing export markets – we are delighted to welcome 40 additional employees to our business and plan to recruit more this year as we expand. our enterprise.”

Dawnfresh Seafoods was one of the UK’s largest fish and seafood producers and processors when it took office on February 28, along with Dawnfresh Holdings and RR Spink & Sons (Arbroath).

FRP Advisory sold the Arbroath plant to Lossie Seafoods in a deal that saved 249 jobs.

Dawnfresh Farming, which operates seven fish farms in Northern Ireland and Scotland, continues to trade solvently and will be officially released for sale in the coming months.
