The truth about organic vegan wine and why you should drink it

What do you get when you combine a passion for winemaking, a two-generation heritage and a deep concern for the environment? The answer is a deliciously elegant wine that is very concerned about the environment that is used to produce it. For Sophie Germanier, daughter of the famous Swiss winemaker Jacques Germanier, a bottle of organic wine should stand up to any other wine of similar price and grape variety on the market.

It’s her mission to create quality, affordable wines while taking care of the earth – and that’s exactly what she did. Sophie Germanier Organic Wines are certified organic (no pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and herbicides are used in the vines), vegan and created with respect for the environment and its inhabitants. This means that every detail – from lightweight bottles to reduce carbon emissions during transport to fair labor practices) is taken care of. It also means that the resulting wine is made with passion and innovation without compromising on quality.

What a joy to know that the amazingly beautiful, full-bodied and elegant glass of wine you are sipping is also good for you, and the environment?

Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Shiraz is a round and balanced wine. It presents a bouquet of red pepper, herbs and leather and continues on the palate with notes of cigar box, black fruits and prune. One of the best red blends I have tasted. This wine received gold at the Gilbert and Gallard International Wine Awards 2021 and Top Gold at the PAR International Organic Wine Awards.

Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon features gooseberries and grapefruit, with stone fruit notes on the nose. The flavors of grenadilla and citrus are accompanied by a creamy palate that extends towards the end. Soft on the palate, cool but not dry with an overall balance.

This wine received the Best Value award at the Gilbert and Gallard International Wine Awards 2021 and gold at the PAR International Wine Awards. Sophie Germanier’s organic wines are available for purchase at Bar Keeper Strand Street, Norman Goodfellows Gardens and Three Anchor Bay, Roeland Liquors and Vino Pronto Gardens, as well as online at Bar Keeper, Wild Organics and Wine Concepts.
